Why You Need a Checklist

Most token launches fail not because of a bad idea, but because of poor execution. Founders forget to revoke authorities, launch without liquidity, or announce their contract address before setting up a DEX listing. Each of these mistakes erodes trust instantly. In crypto, you rarely get a second chance to make a first impression. A checklist forces you to slow down and cover every base before you go live.

This solana token launch checklist is based on patterns we've observed across the most successful launches on the network. It's not theoretical — it's built from real data, real conversations with founders, and real post-mortems of projects that could have made it but didn't. The difference between a token that gets 500 holders in a week and one that stays at 12 holders forever usually comes down to preparation.

1

Pre-Launch (Before Minting)

Define your token's purpose and target audience.Write a one-paragraph statement explaining what your token does, who it's for, and why it exists. If you can't explain it clearly, your community won't be able to either. Utility token? Meme coin? Governance? Nail this down first.
Choose your token name, symbol, and branding.Pick a name that's memorable, easy to spell, and not already taken on Solana. Your symbol should be 3–5 characters. Check existing tokens on Solscan to avoid duplicates.
Design your token logo (512x512 PNG). This is the image that shows up on every explorer, wallet, and DEX. It needs to look professional at small sizes. Use a transparent or solid background. Avoid text-heavy designs that become unreadable at 32px.
Plan your tokenomics.Decide on total supply, decimal places, and any distribution plan. Most successful meme coins use 1 billion supply with 9 decimals. Utility tokens vary. Document how tokens will be allocated — team, community, liquidity, etc. Read our tokenomics guide for detailed strategies.
Set up your Twitter/X account. Your token needs a dedicated X account with a professional bio, profile picture (your logo), and a pinned post explaining the project. Start posting content at least one week before launch.
Set up your Telegram group.Create a Telegram group with clear rules, an admin bot for moderation, and a pinned message with project links. Telegram is where most Solana communities live. It's non-negotiable.
Create a website or landing page. Even a single-page site with your tokenomics, roadmap, team info, and social links adds massive credibility. Use a .com or .io domain. Free hosting on Vercel or Netlify works fine.
Build an initial community of 100+ members. Before you mint a single token, you need at least 100 people who care. Use X engagement, Telegram shilling, and crypto forums. Launch without a community and you're launching into a void.
Prepare your launch content. Write your announcement thread, create graphics for the launch post, draft your Telegram announcement, and prepare a short explainer video if possible. Everything should be ready to publish the moment your token goes live.
Test on Solana devnet first. Create a test token on devnet using SOLTokenLab to familiarize yourself with the process. Verify metadata renders correctly. Practice revoking authorities. This costs nothing and prevents expensive mistakes on mainnet.
2

Token Creation

Create your token on Solana mainnet via SOLTokenLab. Connect your wallet, upload your logo, fill in metadata (name, symbol, description, links), and set your supply. The process takes about 60 seconds. See our full step-by-step creation guide.
Verify your metadata on Solana Explorer. After creation, paste your mint address into Solana Explorer or Solscan. Confirm your name, symbol, image, and description all display correctly. Metadata errors are much harder to fix after revoking update authority.
Revoke Mint Authority. This proves you can never inflate the supply. It's the single most important trust signal for any token. Revoking mint authority tells holders the supply is permanently fixed.
Revoke Freeze Authority.Freeze authority lets the creator freeze any holder's tokens. No legitimate project needs this. Revoke it immediately to build trust with your community and satisfy DEX listing requirements.
Revoke Update Authority. Once your metadata is verified and correct, revoke update authority so it can never be changed. This locks in your branding permanently. Only do this after double-checking everything displays correctly.
Save your mint address securely.Copy your token's mint address and store it somewhere permanent. You'll need it for every subsequent step — adding liquidity, listing on DEXs, sharing with your community, and applying to aggregators.
3

Liquidity & Trading

Add liquidity on Raydium (5–10+ SOL recommended). Create a liquidity pool pairing your token with SOL on Raydium. The more initial liquidity you provide, the tighter the spreads and the better the trading experience. 5 SOL is the minimum for a credible launch; 10+ SOL is ideal. Follow our liquidity guide for step-by-step instructions.
Verify your token is indexed on Jupiter. Jupiter automatically indexes tokens with active Raydium pools. Search for your token on jup.ag to confirm it appears. This is where the majority of Solana swaps happen, so being visible here is critical.
Check your listing on DEX Screener. DEX Screener automatically picks up new Raydium pools. Verify your token name, logo, and price chart display correctly. Many traders discover tokens through DEX Screener, so appearance matters. Read our DEX listing guide for details.
Submit for verified badge on DEX aggregators. Some platforms like Jupiter and Birdeye offer verification programs. Apply for a verified checkmark to increase trust. This typically requires revoking all authorities, having a website, and active social links.
Test a small trade yourself. Buy a small amount of your own token on Jupiter or Raydium. Then sell a small amount. Confirm the swap works, the price updates correctly, and there are no unexpected errors. This five-minute test can save you from embarrassing issues.
4

Post-Launch

Announce publicly with the contract address. Post your launch thread on X with the contract address prominently displayed. Share in your Telegram group. Pin the contract address everywhere. Make it impossible for people to buy the wrong token.
Share proof of revoked authorities. Screenshot or link to your token on Solana Explorer showing all three authorities (mint, freeze, update) are revoked. Post this in your Telegram and on X. Transparency builds trust faster than anything else.
Apply to CoinGecko. CoinGecko accepts applications for new tokens. Having a CoinGecko listing gives your project legitimacy and makes it easier for people to track your price. Apply within the first week while momentum is high.
Apply to CoinMarketCap. Similar to CoinGecko, CoinMarketCap is a major discovery platform. The application process takes longer, but being listed here signals that your project is real and tracked by mainstream tools.
Post content daily for the first 30 days. Consistent posting keeps your community engaged and attracts new holders. Share updates, memes, milestones, and behind-the-scenes content. Check our marketing guide for content strategies that work.
Monitor volume, holders, and liquidity daily.Track your token's performance on DEX Screener, Birdeye, or Solscan. Watch for unusual activity. Respond to community questions quickly. Early engagement metrics determine long-term trajectory.
Plan ongoing marketing and partnerships. The launch is just the beginning. Map out a 90-day marketing plan including influencer outreach, AMAs, community events, and partnership announcements. Projects that go silent after launch lose momentum fast. Read our launch strategy guide for a long-term framework.

5 Tips for a Successful Launch

Beyond the checklist items, these five principles separate successful launches from forgettable ones. They're based on patterns we've seen across thousands of token launches through SOLTokenLab.

1. Launch when your community is ready, not when your token is ready

A token with 500 engaged community members will outperform a token with perfect tokenomics and zero audience every single time. The token is just a tool. The community is the product. Don't mint until you have real people waiting for it.

2. Revoke all authorities before you announce

Nothing kills trust faster than a token with active mint or freeze authority. The first thing experienced traders check is whether authorities are revoked. Do it before your announcement so you can lead with proof of decentralization.

3. Start with more liquidity than you think you need

Low liquidity means high slippage, which means bad trading experience, which means frustrated holders who sell and never come back. If you can afford 10 SOL of initial liquidity instead of 2, do it. The smoother the early trading experience, the faster your community grows.

4. Be transparent about everything

Share your wallet address. Show your liquidity lock. Explain your tokenomics publicly. Answer every question in your Telegram. The crypto space is drowning in scams, and the projects that survive are the ones that prove they have nothing to hide.

5. Treat the first 30 days like a full-time job

The first month after launch determines whether your token has legs. Post daily. Engage with every comment. Respond in your Telegram within minutes, not hours. Track your numbers. Adjust your strategy. This window doesn't last forever.

Bookmark this page. Come back to it as you work through each phase. Many founders find it helpful to print this checklist and physically check off items as they go. Having a tangible record of your progress keeps you accountable and ensures nothing slips through the cracks.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the entire launch process take?

If you're starting from scratch with no community, plan for 2–4 weeks of pre-launch work before minting. The actual token creation takes about 60 seconds on SOLTokenLab. Adding liquidity takes another 5–10 minutes. Post-launch is an ongoing commitment, but the critical first phase is the first 30 days. In total, budget about 6 weeks from idea to established token.

How much SOL do I need to launch a token?

Creating the token itself costs around 0.02–0.05 SOL in network fees via SOLTokenLab. The bigger cost is liquidity. We recommend at least 5–10 SOL for your initial Raydium pool. So realistically, budget 6–11 SOL for a credible launch. You can launch with less, but thin liquidity leads to poor trading experience and difficulty attracting holders.

Do I need to revoke all three authorities?

For maximum trust, yes. Revoking mint authority prevents supply inflation. Revoking freeze authority prevents anyone from freezing holder balances. Revoking update authority locks metadata permanently. Most DEX aggregators and listing platforms require all three to be revoked for verification badges. There's no good reason to keep any of them active after launch unless your token has a specific utility requiring dynamic supply.

Can I use this checklist for a meme coin launch?

Absolutely. This checklist works for any SPL token launch on Solana — meme coins, utility tokens, governance tokens, or community tokens. Meme coins may not need a detailed whitepaper or complex tokenomics, but every other step (community building, authority revocation, liquidity, marketing) applies equally. If anything, meme coins need strongercommunity building and marketing since they don't have underlying utility to fall back on.
