How to create a Solana token

A step-by-step walkthrough for launching your own SPL token on Solana mainnet in under 60 seconds — no coding required.

Before you start
  • Install the Phantom wallet browser extension
  • Fund your wallet with at least 0.15 SOL (fee + network rent)
  • Have your token logo ready as a square PNG (512×512 px recommended)
1

Connect your Phantom wallet

Click Connect Wallet in the top-right corner of the Create Token page. Approve the connection request in Phantom. Make sure you're on Mainnet and have at least 0.15 SOL to cover the creation fee and network rent.

2

Fill in your token details

Enter a Token Name (e.g. "My Token"), a Symbol (e.g. "MTK", 3–6 characters works best), your Total Supply, and Decimals. Most fungible tokens use 6 or 9 decimals. Set decimals to 0 for NFT-style or whole-number tokens.

3

Upload a logo

Upload a square PNG or JPG image (recommended: 512×512 px). Your logo is pinned to IPFS via Pinata, giving it permanent decentralised storage that no single party can take down.

4

Add a description

Write a short description of your token's purpose. This appears in wallets and explorers that display Metaplex metadata.

5

Choose optional add-ons

Creator Branding embeds your name, website, Twitter and Telegram in on-chain metadata. The three Revoke options permanently remove mint, freeze, and update authority — each one increases holder trust and your token's credibility.

6

Review the fee summary and mint

The fee summary updates in real time as you enable options. Click Mint Token on Mainnet, approve the transaction in Phantom, and wait for confirmation. Your token is live on Solana in under 60 seconds.

Tips for a successful launch

Choose a memorable symbol
3–5 characters, all caps. Check that no existing token uses the same symbol on Solana.
Revoke authorities after mint
Revoking mint and freeze authority signals to holders that the supply is fixed and their funds are safe. It dramatically improves trust.
Use a high-res logo
Wallets and DEX UIs display your logo at various sizes. A 512×512 px transparent-background PNG looks best everywhere.
Set decimals carefully
6 decimals is standard for most tokens. 0 is used for whole-unit tokens. You cannot change decimals after minting.
